Great Life Great Love is happy to share the 2011 Golden Globes Awards Winners and Survey Results based on feedback from movie lovers on the best films, actors, actresses, directors, screenplays and songs who voted thru Facebook and Twitter in our poll. We write Great Love Reviews with love lessons from the big screen from our Los Angeles-based home, and awards season is our favorite time of year!
If you want to see a truly unique love story and Sundance film, check out The King’s Speech with Colin Firth (King George VI, “Bertie”), Geoffrey Rush (Lionel Logue) and Helen Bonham Carter (Queen Elizabeth.) You’ll be captured by the true insider’s story about a man who unexpectedly becomes the King of England, and his support team who help him overcome his fear and challenges with public speaking. (Some studies have shown that fear of public speaking ranks up there with the fear of death – and most do not struggle with speech stutters like this king.)
Great Life Great Love is all about helping you attract the Great Love that you deserve, and the holidays are the perfect time to get out there and take more chances. If you’re one of the 97 million singles in the US (ages 18 and older), here are 10 Holiday Pickup Lines plus 5 Flirty Bonus Questions that can help you find great dates this season. For the best results, deliver these icebreakers with a big grin and confidence (It’s all about the delivery, and confidence is the sexiest part of your wardrobe! And if you’re sad, leave your glum at home or these lines won’t work. Take my advice in the pickup department, “fake it until you make it.”)
If you’ve ever wanted to escape reality for a great adventure, go see Eat Pray Love with Julia Roberts (Liz), Billy Crudup (Stephen), James Franco (David), and Javier Bardem (Felipe). This entertaining film is based on the book by Elizabeth Gilbert, who takes a relationship timeout after a painful divorce and bad breakup to get in touch with herself. Liz’s one-year travel adventures in Italy, India and Bali offer fun reality checks and great love lessons about attracting the right kind of love.
Great Life Great Love shares love lessons from the big screen, and is happy to release our Top 10 Romance Movies for 2010. We’re missing Sandra Bullock’s The Proposal and All About Steve this year, but we’ve had some good films so far, and there are more on the way from Hollywood. My prediction is that the best romance movie of 2010 will be Morning Glory or Love and Other Drugs (Out Thanksgiving.) Below are movie ratings and Great Love Reviews (No Spoilers!) for our Top 10 picks. Let us know your favorites.
When Apple released it’s iPhone 4 last Thursday, the record pre-order reservations (600,000) and long store lines (many reporting up to a 12 hour wait) make you wonder if this love affair with a cell phone has gone overboard? Have iPhones become more important than romantic relationships? If you saw the Manhattan Beach Village Mall (video below) line wrapped around Macy’s, you’d say it looks like the same crazy draw that we feel when we first start building a Great Love relationship.
If you’re ready for a fashion feast and Middle Eastern escape with the girls, go see Sex and the City 2 with Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Kristin Davis (Charlotte), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kim Cattrall(Samantha) as they “Carrie On” two years after the first movie. Even though this sequel is long (2 ½ hours), the writer cleverly keeps your attention with a road trip to Abu Dhabi. We won’t spoil the movie here, but rather comment on the fashion parade and their great United Arab Emirates adventure.
Are you ready to watch Sex and the City 2 on May 27, 2010, as Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha “carry on” in their next chapter of their lives? We got a rare interview with one of the cast members, Vincent De Paul, at the Turner Classic Movie Film Festival in Hollywood, where he shared the inside scoop on the wedding scene in the video below (No spoilers!). Vincent provides hints about the groom by saying, “The character is the Italian, and his last name is Marino, and you will recognize him.”
We can all learn from love in the movies. After all, they’ve been scripted to make us emotionally charged and think about the life lessons. As your Great Love Reporter and entertainment executive, there are tons of movie couple examples in my Books, CDs and Articles. For fun, below are my top 10 picks and the love lessons from the big screen for the Best Romance Movies for the 21st Century.
If you love mysteries, London, and Big Ben, then Sherlock Holmes can take you there. However, if you’re looking for romance in this film, it’s even more of a mystery to find for Sherlock (Robert Downey Jr), Watson (Jude Law), Irene (Rachel McAdams) and Mary (Kelly Reilly). The biggest love lesson in this movie is avoid falling for a mystery man who is totally obsessed with work. Below are 3 romance clues that signal trouble based on this movie.
Have you heard about the Sundance hit, An Education that is getting rave reviews from both the critics and viewers? In this romantic movie, we learn a ton about naïve love from Carey Mulligan (Jenny) and Peter Sarsgaard (David) who tempts her with a Great Life, but falls short on being a Great Love. The movie takes places in the suburbs of London in 1960s, and is filled with creative twists that make this movie a must see!
Great Life Great Love is here to help you build a Great Life to attract Great Love! Liz Kelly Live presents this cool fireworks video from the beach at the Santa Monica Pier’s 100th Birthday Party on 09/09/09! Many Hollywood movies were also filmed on this pier and gave us some great life lessons. Below are 5 films shot at this hot movie location. But first, sit back, enjoy the fireworks show, and fill your life up with fun events like these!
Wow, have you seen the movie, Pride and Prejudice (2005) with Keira Knightly (Lizzie Bennett) and Matthew Macfayen (Mr. Darcy)? This film gets 5 stars in my book because it gives awesome examples of what works and doesn’t work in relationships. You can see powerful Great Lover signs in their smiles and sincere messages, along with Bad Lover red flags that make you cringe.
If you’re ready for a playful and entertaining romantic comedy, check out the hot new movie, I Love You, Man. You’ll find it uplifting to watch Paul Rudd (Peter Klaven) transform from a whimp into a Confident Metro Male who is unstoppable. When Paul gets engaged to Rashida Jones (Zooey), he gets hit with the reality that he has no male friends and goes on a search for a best man. He’s got a fiance, but forgot to build a great life.
Have you seen the movie, He’s Just Not That Into You? It’s about all those crazy things that singles and married people do to mess up their relationships. This movie gets 3 stars for the love lessons about the Bad Lover Signs that should blast the alarm bells and make you run for the nearest exit! You want a relationship to go from Good to Great Love, and a Bad Lover only spells trouble and heartache.
